Provo Mayor Michael R. Hill and his former administrative assistant, Nancy M. Smith, were married Monday night in a private ceremony at La Caille at Quail Run in Sandy.

About 30 close friends, family and city employees attended the 6:30 p.m. ceremony. The ceremony was performed by Merrill Jensen, an LDS bishop from northwest Provo.Hill's appointed term as mayor expires next week when mayor-elect George Stewart takes the oath of office. Hill was appointed to the city's top position in December 1992 when former mayor Joe Jenkins resigned to take a spot on Gov. Mike Leavitt's administration.

Shortly after being appointed, Hill named Smith as his administrative assistant. In July, Smith resigned as administrative assistant to return to her position as executive director of institutional research at Utah Valley State College.
