Ella Mathilde Halvorsen Synnestvedt Tilenmann, 83, cherished mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully in Salt Lake City on Christmas Eve (Juleaften) surrounded by the family she loved.

Born June 5, l9l0, in Fredrikstad, Norway, a daughter of Martin Halvorsen and Ellen Olivia von Lagercreutz. Educated in Norwegian schools, including art school. A gifted artist, her art work hangs in homes of family and friends.Leaving behind a privileged life in Norway, she came to Zion in l958 to provide opportunities in the church for her four daughters. All married in the temple.

She was in retail sales much of her life; in her youth as a model, and later as a buyer for ZCMI. In retirement, she spent her days in the temple. Ella was an inspiration and strength to her family. Never wavering in her testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. She served faithfully in numerous positions in the church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints, including Relief Society and Mutual presidents. Her leadership capabilities and her artistry kept her busy in the community as well. Her life's motto was, "All or Nothing." She gave all. Married Erling Synnestvedt in l939 in Oslo, Norway, Deceased. Married Poul Tilenmann in l977 in Salt Lake City. Deceased.

Survived by four daughters and sons-in-law: Elin and Myron Child, Salt Lake City; Vivi and Gary Underwood, Ella and William Raventos, Karen-Lill and George Oates, all Pleasant Grove, Utah. Also survived by 22 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, a sister, Lillian Fuhr, of Bergen, Norway, and a brother-in-law, Clarence Johansen of Salt Lake City. Preceded in death by five brothers and sisters.

Upon her request, a family graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 28, at 1 p.m. at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
