Keith Berard scored 18 points to lead Southern Utah to a 71-50 victory over Eastern Washington Tuesday night.

Berard hit four of seven shots from 3-point range, including two of three in the first half as the Thunderbirds (6-4) jumped to a 40-25 halftime advantage.Brad Sebree, who led EWU (3-5) with 13 points, scored five points early in the second half as Eastern Washington narrowed the gap to 53-45 with 10 minutes remaining. Carlos Campbell scored four points during that period.

The Thunderbirds regained control from that point and held EWU scoreless until Rick Swanwick hit a jumper with 5:15 to go and the Thunderbirds up 61-47.

Berard then hit his fourth 3-pointer of the night to give SUU a 64-47 lead and the Thunderbirds coasted to the victory.

Sean Allen scored 16 points for SUU and had eight rebounds.
