The politically correct stance now is against crime. We hear it daily from Clinton on down through the press, TV, seminars, talk shows. It's all the same nonsense, hot air, ignorance and hypocrisy.
Many foolish solutions are presented, such as gun control and registration, confiscating ammunition, waiting periods, etc. The NRA rightfully fears the Brady bill is a beginning, similar to the start of the income tax.All this ballyhoo is idiotic, as all the suggestions lumped together would make no dent on crime. Do we ever hear one word about severe penalty for gun-toting criminals, or for the weak record of our judicial system? Police morale is low because they see their hard efforts wasted.
The press and liberals tell us other nations are against the death penalty, which is false. My two-month tour in the Orient convinced me that most of them are using the death penalty - and fast. Middle East nations, ditto. Our prisons are full and we are short of money, so this method would ease our problems.
Here is the solution: Let us law-abiding folk keep our guns. As in Singapore, give the death penalty for using guns in serious criminal activity and drug running. Then insist that the law and judges mete out swift and appropriate punishment and prevent appeals from going on for decades.
It's worth trying; nothing else works.
