Dr. William I. Higuchi, Salt Lake City, has been appointed editor of the Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, a scientific journal of the American Pharmaceutical Association (APhA) and the American Chemical Society (ACS).
Higuchi is distinguished professor and chairman of the department of pharmaceutics and pharmaceutical chemistry at the University of Utah. He has been a member of APhA since 1960.Higuchi was selected by a search committee appointed by APhA and ACS. His appointment is effective Jan. 1.
Higuchi's honors include such APhA awards as the Ebert Prize, Takeru Higuchi Research Prize and Research Achievement Award in Physical Pharmacy. His publications number more than 300 papers as well as numerous contributions to reference books. He has served on the editorial boards of many journals including the Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
