So far in 1993, Richfield has recorded the largest number of residential building permits ever for a 10-month period, reflecting unprecedented construction of new homes.

The volume of commercial building was greater last year than this year, however.City records show permits were issued for 28 new residences from January through October, with 84 permits for residential remodeling. During the same period last year, 18 permits were issued for new home construction.

New homes during the period this year were valued at $1,992,222 as compared to $1,239,299 last year. Remodeling amounted to $412,420 during the 10 months this year and totaled $312,312 during the entire year in 1992.

New commercial building construction figures were $249,000 this year and $2,273,000 in 1992. Commercial remodeling amounted to $1,098,978 last year and $543,933 for 10 months this year.

The low in residential construction numbers during the past eight years occurred in 1988 when only five permits were issued at a value of $247,000.
