Juab County's $3.6 million budget won't include raises for county employees, but insurance benefits will increase.

Independent auditor Dave Cloward said wages are 31 percent of the total budget and benefits are 13 percent."There will be no increase in the property tax nor in the certified tax rate. The commissioners are basically holding the line," Cloward said.

Cloward said the budget process has been painful at times. "Commissioners cut $160,000 in requests. The money just wasn't there." Commissioners wanted to give department heads and employees a raise but could not find the money to do so."

Cloward said the county collected $65,000 in sales tax this year - half of past collections.

"This is a bare-bones budget," said Cloward.
