I am a ninth-grade student from Davis County, and I am concerned about the gang problem that we have in our schools. I think the solution to part of the problem is to start having uniforms in our schools.
Some schools have tried to eliminate the problem by saying that bandannas or any clothing from certain sports teams, such as the Raiders, are not allowed. This is a good start, but it is still obvious that certain people are in gangs because they have certain styles and colors.Uniforms would not only help to solve the gang problem but would also eliminate some problems of students feeling that they need brand-name clothing in order to feel accepted and good about themselves.
Some schools in other states that have their own colors and offer several styles for their uniforms, so there is some variety, and it also looks good.
