Unitarian minister Barbara Hamilton-Holway, at the 8th Annual World Peace Celebration Friday at 4:30 a.m. in Kingsbury Hall, says peace can be achieved if we all begin with ourselves. Observances were held simultaneously in all 50 states and on all continents during the New Year's Eve morning tradition. The celebration began with dancers who performed to a song of Celtic blessing. Later in the two-hour gathering of some 100 people, meditations were recited, followed by poetry from Tibetan visitors. A World Peace Meditation was spoken, which said, in part: "I am strengthened, healed and nourished as I fully accept all that is, just as it is . . . Filled with compassion, I experience the equality of all that lives."
