A Salt Lake taxi driver was robbed of cash and liquor at knifepoint early Thursday morning near 1500 W. Cheyenne Street (200 South), police reports show.

About 1:15 a.m., the taxi picked up a man and his female companion in West Valley and was taking them to a restaurant when the man told the driver to pull over, the report stated.The man pulled a kitchen knife and held it to the driver's throat and demanded money and a bottle of whiskey that was in the taxi, the report said. When the driver complied, the man pulled the knife back, said, "Sorry to do this, dude" and fled south on foot with the woman.

Police followed fresh footprints in the snow to a nearby house and arrested a man, age 28, and woman, age 26, on suspicion of aggravated robbery, according to the report.
