Annie Shields Droubay, passed away March 1, 1993, at her home in Erda, Utah.
She was born in Tooele, Utah, October 24, 1897, a daughter of Robert M. and Charlotte Lee Shields. She married John R. Droubay January 7, 1920 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He passed away in July, 1972. They were the parents of six children. They spent all of their married life in Erda with the exception of one year when they moved to Tooele to manage the Tooele Central Dairy. Togehter, they farmed in Erda raising sheep, alfalfa, grain and dairy cattle. They started and for many years, operated the Droubay Dairy.Annie loved the church and spent her life in teaching and leadership responsibilities. She served in the ward and on the Stake Sunday School board; also in the Primary and the Young Womens program. But her great love was the Relief Society. She served as Ward Relief Society president and then served as the Grantsville Stake Relief Society President from 1957 to 1962.
Annie loved people and spent untold hours in service to both young and old.
She is survived by one brother, Kenneth W. Shields of Tooele. Two sons and four daughters: Wendell (Geraldine) Droubay of Tooele; Robert (Bob) (Bonney) Droubay of Tooele; Ruth (Ray) Bryan of Erda; Merlynn (George) Barrus of Provo; Bertha (Dwight) Clark of Tremonton; Kathleen (Ralph) Bradshaw of Tooele. She is also survived by 29 grandchildren and 72 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 4th at 11:00 a.m. in the Erda Ward Chapel. Viewing will be Wednesday evening March 3, 6-8 p.m. at the Tate Mortuary in Tooele and an hour prior to services at the Erda Chapel. Interment: Tooele City Cemetery.
