Hard hitting and wet weather were the bywords in Saturday's scrimmage for the University of Utah football team.
On a wet field in Rice Stadium the Utes showed some hard hitting play on both sides of the ball."I was really happy with the intensity out there today," said Ute coach Ron McBride. "It was very physical on both sides of the ball and we played some real smashmouth football."
The running game came to the forefront in the scrimmage. Brad Foster, Pierre Jones and Rob Hamilton all broke loose for runs over 35 yards and Jamal Anderson and Henry Lusk both looked very good in short yardage and goal line situations. Harold Lusk had an excellent day at quarterback as did Neo Aoga who hit on touchdowns passes of 45 yards to Terrance Keehan and 50 yards to Curtis Marsh.
Kareem Leary had two interceptions for the defense.
Overall, McBride was very happy with the scrimmage. "Everyone was on the plus side today," said the Ute coach. The Utes wrap up spring drills on Saturday with their final scrimmage.
