The legendary Russian dancer will bring his White Oak Dance Project to Salt Lake City for performances at the Capitol Theatre, Aug. 24 and 25, sponsored by Baryshnikov Productions Inc. and Ballet West. These appearances will be part of a White Oak Dance Project tour of 12 Western cities, to benefit the American Foundation for AIDS Research (AmFAR) in many tour locations. The White Oak Dance Project was created in 1990 by Baryshnikov and Mark Morris, continuing a collaboration that began when Baryshnikov commissioned Morris' "Drink to Me Only With Thine Eyes" for the American Ballet Theater. Though originally famed in ballet, Baryshnikov has vigorously explored the modern repertory and technique as well.
