Texas (51-15) dropped into an elimination-round game tonight against Oklahoma State (44-16), which on Monday beat Arizona State 5-4 to send the Sun Devils home without a victory for only the second time in 18 College World Series appearances. Texas beat Oklahoma State 6-5 in a first-round game on Saturday.
The Texas-Oklahoma State loser goes home and the winner gets a shot at Wichita State (57-16). Tonight's other game has Long Beach State (44-18) facing Texas A&M (53-10) for the right to play LSU (51-16-1) on Wednesday.
"The third inning we were down a little bit, but coach (Gene Stephenson) told us it was still early and we could come back," said Wichita State DH Darren Dreifort, who hit a two-run shot Monday night to begin Wichita State's comeback from a 6-1 deficit.
