Through the graciousness of the Lord, Lawrence has fulfilled the full measure of his mission here on the earth. Because of his devoted love for his Savior and the gospel, he has had the privilege of fulfilling his commitment of 68 years in mortality. He returned to his Creator December 24, 1994 after a courageous battle with cancer to continue his services through the eternities.

Born December 11, 1926 in Kaysville, Utah to Lawrence Robert and Fannie Luana Thackham Layton. Married Marlene Prince March 24, 1954 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. Active member of the LDS Church, fulfilled a mission to Texas-Louisiana, served in various callings including priesthood advisor, seminary teacher, bishop, patriarch and temple worker.Survived by his wife, Marlene; four sons and two daughters; LaMar (Lynnette) Layton, Darrell (Valerie) Layton, Brian (Rangimaria) Layton, Trinda (Jody) Adams, Thalene (Steve Fairbanks, Layne Layton; 11 grandchildren; brother and sisters-in-law, Ruby Layton, Douglas and Beth Prince, Wayne and Lois Prince, Yvonne Prince, George and LaRue Prince, and Ronald and Jerry Prince.

Preceded in death by parents; daughter, Valene; sisters, Ewa Beverly; and brother, Homer.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 28, 1994, 12 noon at the Salt Lake Stake Center, 142 West 200 North. Friends may call Tuesday, 5-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, and at the church Wednesday, 10:45-11:45 a.m. Interment in the Valley View Memorial Park.
