Dora Lavina Littlefield Henderson, 95, much loved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away on December 24, 1994 at the home of her daughter in North Salt Lake, Utah.
She was born on September 17, 1899 in Henrieville, Utah to Joseph Edwin and Martha Jane Smith Littlefield, the oldest of five sisters. She took care of her four younger sisters when her widowed mother was forced to go to work to provide for her family.She married Roy Henderson on May 13, 1919 in Junction, Utah; marriage solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple on June 6, 1946. He died on April 20, 1940. Everyone was always welcome to Roy and Dora's house in Cannonville for a home cooked meal and a place to stay overnight.
She served in the Relief Society for many years and enjoyed serving two stake missions as a stake missionary. She was devoted to doing genealogy work for her progenitors. Her faith sustained her through trials throughout her life. She was a proud member of the Gold Star Mothers of America.
Dora and Roy are the parents of six children, two who survive her: Ernie and his wife, Wynona Henderson, West Valley City, Utah; Joan H. Cowles, North Salt Lake, Utah; 12 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; one brother and three sisters: James L. Reynolds, Murray, Utah; Nellie Bailey, Escalante, Utah; Mrs. Clyde (Iletta) Robbins and Mrs. Dave (Beth) Baxter, both of Orem, Utah.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, LaNell; three sons, Roy Junior, Eddie and Earl Henderson; one grandson.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 29, 1994 at 12 noon in the Cannonville LDS Ward Chapel in Cannonville, Utah. Friends may call at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City, on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. and at the ward chapel in Cannonville Thursday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Cannonville Cemetery. Funeral directors, Neal S. Magleby and Sons Mortuary of Richfield, Utah.
