Tennessee football coach Phillip Fulmer, whose team went 7-4 to earn a Gator Bowl berth, Monday had his contract extended an additional year through the 1999 season.

"He and his staff did outstanding work in bringing the team back during the 1994 season, and they recruited a group that was ranked as one of the best incoming classes in the nation," athletic director Doug Dickey said. "The outlook for Tennessee football is very bright."Fulmer signed a five-year pact at the start of the 1993 season. That contract was extended by one year before the 1994 season, and Monday's announcement brings Fulmer's contract back to five years.
