It was pure luck when Richard Burgos bumped into Jose Garcia 300 miles from home - good luck for Burgos, bad luck for Garcia.

Burgos, a police officer on vacation from Worcester, Mass., was walking outside his hotel when he encountered Garcia, who was wanted in Worcester for alleged cocaine trafficking and weapons possession. After their eyes met Sunday, Garcia jumped in his car and fled. The officer followed Garcia in his own car and flagged down a Rochester police cruiser. Garcia was stopped without incident about a mile outside the city.

"This is one of the weirdest arrests I've ever made," said Rochester Officer James Woodward.

Burgos "can hardly believe this occurred. He's so far from Massachusetts. It's unbelievable," Woodward said.
