The City Council on Tuesday voted to raise dog license fees for spayed or neutered animals from $5 to $6 and from $7.50 to $12 for all others, beginning Jan. 1. If a loose dog is caught without a license, the owner must pay a $15 impound fee in addition to the license fee. Dogs must have rabies shots before they will be licensed. It is the first dog license increase since the city's incorporation in 1978.
