The Salt Lake Community Development Corp. (CDC) is announcing an expansion of its "Own in Salt Lake" program.
Own in Salt Lake is a down payment assistance program for first-time homebuyers. The CDC provides $2,000 to income-eligible homebuyers. This money can be used for down payment and/or closing costs. A family is eligible if its income is 80 percent or less of the median income for a Salt Lake family of the same size. If the family lives in the home for 15 years, it does not have to repay the $2,000.The program, which formerly covered only Salt Lake City, will expand Jan. 1, 1995, to cover the following areas: Magna, Kearns, Taylorsville, White City and the area from 3300 South to the north Murray city limit, and from 1300 East to the Jordan River.
The money for this program is limited and is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Please call the CDC for an application or for more information about income eligibility or program boundaries.
