Moxtek Inc., 452 W. 1260 North, a company producing soft X-ray components, has been awarded a $600,000 24-month phase two Small Business Innovation Research contract by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration for "very fine grating lithography."

The company also received a $75,000 phase one SBIR contract in October for improvements in technology for a small simultaneous soft X-ray spectrometer. These two contracts are in addition to an existing $750,000 Department of Energy phase two SBIR two-year contract currently in the first year.Douglas Hansen, principal investigator for the newest SBIR contract, said, "As a research scientist, this award permits the further study of a potentially significant improvement in the state of the art for grating technology."
