Juan Allred, heavy-duty diesel technology instructor at the Davis Applied Technology Center for the past 17 years, will be honored at a retirement reception. The public is invited.

When: Wednesday, Jan. 4, 3-5 p.m.

Where: Davis Applied Technology Center, 550 E. 300 South, Kays-ville.

Before teaching at the center, Allred was an instructor at View-mont High School.

Woods Cross

In its regular meeting Tuesday, the City Council:

- Decided to accommodate homeowners along I-15 who want to build higher fences to shut out traffic noise and get some privacy. A public hearing will be held Jan. 17 to consider increasing maximum fence height from 6 to 8 feet.

- Voted to hold a public hearing, also on Jan. 17, to get input on a comprehensive revision of the city subdivision ordinance. City Manager Gary Uresk said the current 15-year-old ordinance is out of date and badly in need of rearrangement.

- Heard a presentation from Councilman Darin Hicks on a proposed $8 million golf course on the city's west side.

Centerville

In its meeting Dec. 20, the Centerville Council:

- Reviewed the city's annual audit and financial report for the fiscal year ending June 30.

- Presented prizes to the winners of the Youth City Council's annual Christmas coloring contest.

- Presented a recognition award to city treasurer Jolene Jackson.

- Tabled a request to rezone 5.1 acres at 575 N. 400 West to C-2 from A-1.

- Tabled a request for 90 days to rezone 5.5 acres at 250 West Chase Lane from A-1 to R-2.

- Presented a community service award to Don and Brenda Rosebrock of Thunderpaws Siberians.

Layton

The Board of Adjustments will consider an appeal by Haven J. Barlow to add 19 lots to the existing Layton Estates mobile home park, 301 N. Main, without a second access to a public street.

The Board of Adjustments will consider an appeal by Randall P. and Shelly B. Julander to use an existing 16-foot-wide deeded right-of-way as an access for the construction of a new home at 780 W. 290 North.
