Back atop the Glenwood Apartments in time to ring in 1995, the inflatable 12-foot ape known as Glen Wood sits atop the housing complex on University Avenue in Provo, sporting a fur coat and New Year's party hat. The big plastic primate spent 31 days in captivity after being ape-napped in early August and returned after a blitz of pleas appeared in local student newspapers and were pasted to area road signs. For his return, a ransom was paid in T-shirts and passes to Johnny B's Comedy Club. Following his ape-napping and subsequent return, sources close to Wood say he's enjoyed celebrity status since his ordeal and is frequently seen stepping out at local night spots, being careful not to crush dates underfoot.
