An alleged fugitive from Iowa was arrested Wednesday near a West Jordan department store after police responded to a shoplifting report, a police news release said. He was charged Friday.
About 4:45 p.m., Albert Edwin Chidester Jr., 43, was apprehended by store security at a bus stop after he apparently took an item from the store, located near 1440 West and 9000 South, walked across the street to another department store and exchanged the item for cash, the release said.Chidester provided responding officers with a name and a Salt Lake address and was transported to the Salt Lake County jail for processing, the release said. A computer check shows Chidester is wanted in Waterloo, Iowa, in connection with the shooting of two Target department store security officers. One officer was killed.
