An Irish miler known in track and field circles as the Chairman of the Boards has added another accomplishment to his name.

Eamonn Coghlan, 41, became the first man over 40 to run a mile in less than four minutes. On Sunday, he did it in 3 minutes, 58.15 seconds at Harvard's Albert E. Gordon track."I've been trying to do this for two years, through a lot of aches and pains and injuries," he said.

Coghlan plans to run in a few more meets, but said he has no more serious goals as a runner.
