October 1968 - Ray Kinasewich named first head coach. Golden Eagles selected as team name from entry submitted by 9-year-old Gary Glade, Salt Lake City.
Oct. 19, 1969 - First game in WHL, 4-2 win over San Diego.
Jan. 25, 1972 - Owner Dan Meyer dies in fall from 19th floor of Bloomington, Minn., hotel at NHL-WHL meetings.
May 19, 1972 - Charlie Finley buys Eagles from Meyer estate; changes colors to green and gold.
Summer 1973 - NHL ousts Finley from Seals/Eagles and operates both teams.
Summer 1974 - WHL folds, Eagles move to CHL.
August 1974 - NHL sells Seals, threatens to close down Eagles. Ninety minutes before the press conference, Art Teece and O. Thayne Acord arrange financing for $300,000 bond to buy team 50-50.
Oct. 14, 1974 - Eagles play first CHL game, beat Seattle Totems 4-2.
May 3, 1975 - Eagles win Adams Cup in first year in CHL.
Early February 1977 - Cleveland Barons go under; their players in Salt Lake finish season. Teece and Acord have already paid Cleveland for salaries but pay players another $120,000 to keep them going.
Aug. 3, 1977 - St. Louis Blues become parent team.
1979-80 - Eagles win regular season and Adams Cup.
Feb. 27, 1980 - O. Thayne and Lorraine Acord murdered at home in Granger. May 18, 1981 - Eagles win second straight CHL Adams Cup.
June/July 1983 - Blues tendered to NHL for management, Eagles and Blues dissolve working agreement. Eagles sign a one-year working agreement with Minnesota North Stars.
May 21, 1984 - CHL folds.
May 30, 1984 - Eagles make first inquiry into IHL.
July 10, 1984 - IHL accepts Eagles as an independent team.
July 23, 1986 - Dick Hagman purchases 45 percent and Wilf Niederhauser 3 percent of Eagles stock; Teece retains 51 percent.
1986-87 - Independent Eagles win the IHL Turner Cup.
June 8, 1987 - Calgary Flames become new parent team, and colors change to Calgary's red and gold.
1987-88 - Salt Lake wins its second straight Turner Cup, this one with Calgary affiliation.
September 1989 - Larry H. Miller buys the team.
1991-92 - Along with the Jazz, the Eagles make the move from the Salt Palace to the Delta Center. Rich Chernomaz becomes the franchise's all-time leading goal-scorer with his 197th on April 2, 1992, surpassing Lyle Bradley.
1992-93 - The Eagles fail to make the playoffs for the first time since 1976-77. Following the season, the Flames and Eagles amicably part company after a six-year working agreement.
1993-94 - The Eagles sign with the New York Islanders.
