Being considered: A Salt Lake City-owned warehouse, Metropolitan Hall of Justice's 10th floor.

Increasing penalities for both prosititutes and their customers

First conviction: 5 days in jail and a $300 fine.

Second conviction: 15 days in jail and a $600 fine.

Third conviction: 30 days in jail and $1000 fine.

Possible mandatory home confinement with electronic monitoring equipment for "Johns."

Mayor DeeDee Corradini and Commissioner Mary Callaghan have separately proposed seeking help from state legislature to toughen Utah's solicitation laws. Corradini also wants to confiscate vehicles used in solicitation acts.

Salt Lake City wants mandatory testing of prostitutes and their clients for HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases.

Salt Lake City police and the Salt Lake County Sheriff's office will

coordinate their vice operations to cooperate in cracking down on prostitution.
