Our loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Lawrence James Thompson, 78, died November 13, 1995, in Sandy, Utah.
He was born January 7, 1917 in Millbourne, Wyoming, to Joseph Frederick and Margarett Elizabeth Wayman Thompson. Married Wanda Layton on December 21, 1950. Their marriage was solemnied later in the Salt Lake Temple. He was an active member of the LDS Church, a High Priest and held many callings. He was a temple worker in Jordan River Temple and sang in the ward choir. He was an expert back hoe operator for 35 years working for A.J. Mackay and Sons.He is survived by his loving wife, Wanda, his children and their spouses, Larry and Jane Thompson, Margaret and John Yancey, David Thompson, Cindy and LaVor Bristol, Rodney and Cathy Thompson, Terri and Rick Bingle; 22 grandchildren and one great-grandson; sisters, Ezna, Wanda, Zillah, Inez, Reva and Jack, and Beryl; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, two brothers, Louis and Orlando and one sister, Emily.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 16, 1995, 11 a.m. in the Peruvian Park Chapel, 1500 East 8600 South. Friends may call Wednesday evening 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 10600 South 1700 East, Sandy, and Thursday 9:45-10:45 a.m at the chapel. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens.
