Valeska Martha Kahlig Kern, our beloved mother and grandmother, died May 24, l995 in Salt Lake City.
Born June 6, 1907, Breslau, Germany, the daughter of Osker and Elisabeth Hempe Kahlig. Married William Paul Karl Kern, October 17, 1928, Brooklyn, New York. Their marriage was later solemnized in the L.D.S Temple on May 31, 1946. He preceded her in death May 3, 1983. She was an active member of the L.D.S Church, having served in various positions within the Relief Society organization. She loved to sing, and sang in the German Choir. Her family was her life. She was a kind and caring person. Her greatest love was that of her family. She also loved going to the temple and reading.Survived by children, Ruth (Joe) Reiter, Las Vegas, Nevada, Norma Florence, Harold (Ruby) Kern, both of Salt Lake, David (Kevin) Kern, Paradise Valley, Nevada, and Linda (Paul) McDevitt, South Jordan; 19 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Also preceded in death by her daughter, Eleanor Rasband and one great-great-grandson.
Funeral services Tuesday, May 30th, 12 noon at the Larkin Mortuary Chapel, 260 East South Temple, where friends and family may call on Monday 6-8 p.m and also on Tuesday one hour prior to the services. Interment Elysian Burial Gardens. We'll love you always.
