Southern Utah's only score comes on a 27-yard TD pass in 2nd quarter.Jason Davis passed for three touchdowns and a total of 237 yards for the game to lead Western State College to a 36-8 victory over Division I-AA Southern Utah University Saturday.

Southern Utah's only score came on a 27-yard touchdown pass from Rick Robins to Micah Deckart in the second quarter, and Robins' conversion pass was good.Davis opened scoring with 4:04 remaining in the first quarter when he connected in a 3-yard pass to Ben Kern. With 52 seconds remaining in the quarter, Davis hit Ryan Gentry with a 27-yard scoring pass to make it 15-0.

Early in the third quarter, Davis hooked up with Greg Smith on a 41-yard scoring pass play. Midway through the quarter, Rodney Philmore scored a touchdown on a 13-yard run to make it 29-8.

Davis completed 13 of 24 passes.

Zack Daniels closed out scoring with 65 seconds remaining on a 4-yard touchdown run.

Western State (1-2) held Southern Utah (1-2) to 36 net yards rushing and 188 yards passing. Western State rushed for 217 net yards.

Southern Utah will face one of its toughest test next Saturday when it travels to Pocatello, Idaho, to take on Idaho State in a 6:35 p.m. start.
