A group including Idaho investor J.R. Sim-plot has cut its stake in Micron Technology Inc. to 6.6 percent, according to documents released Friday.

In a recent filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the group said it sold 4.2 million common shares of the Boise-based memory-chip maker on July 11 at prices ranging from $20.38 to $24 a share.The group now holds about 13.9 million shares.

A spokesman for Simplot said the billionare potato baron's company, J.R. Simplot & Co., continues to own shares not included in the group's stake.

At last filing, J.R. Simplot & Co. owned a 12.7 percent stake in Micron Technology.
