Margaret Burton Winters, age 88, passed away peacefully in Salt Lake City, Sept. 14, 1996.
She was born June 10, 1908 in Afton, Wyoming, a daughter of Heber Fielding and Mary Delecta Ballantyne Burton. Margaret attended schools in Afton and obtained a B.S. degree from the University of Wyoming in June of 1932. That same week on June 10, she married E. Francis Winters in the Logan LDS Temple. They were married for 52 years at Francis' passing in 1984.Margaret had a love for music and for many years served as organist, accompanist and piano teacher. Faithful in service in the LDS Church, she was true to her beliefs and always a missionary in spirit. She was a member of the DUP. She was companion to her husband as he served as Star Valley Stake president for 23 years and as counselor in the Idaho Falls Temple presidency for 5 years. Together they served two temple visitor center missions in Los Angeles and Manti.
Preceded in death by her husband; one child; one grandchild and one son-in-law. She has a posterity of 10 children; 53 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren and 41 who have entered the family by marriage.
She is survived by two sisters, Kathryn Field and Minerva Stanger; five sons and four daughters and their spouses, Burton and Joyce Winters, Kaysville, Utah; Allene and Lloyd Heiner, Bedford, Wyoming; Kathleen and Larry Call, Afton, Wyoming; Evan and Patsy Winters, Taylorsville, Utah; John and Gaylene Winters, Glendale, Ariz.; Bruce and Marsha Winters, Salt Lake City, Utah; Mary and Donald Cluff, Kirtland, New Mexico; Ann and Michael Moulton, Heber, Utah; Wayne and Gwen Winters, Pocatello, Idaho.
For the last 10 years, Margaret lived in Salt Lake City, a member of the 18th Ward, Eagle Gate Stake. The family expresses appreciation to the Salt Lake Nursing & Rehab Center for their loving care for the past nine months.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 21 at the Afton Stake Tabernacle, 347 Jefferson. Viewings are 7-9 p.m., Friday, Sept. 20 at Schwab Mortuary, 44 East 4th Ave., Afton and Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Tabernacle.
