Kenneth Palmer Bennion, age 69, passed away December 17, 1997 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
He was a devoted father, grandfather, husband and Elder of Israel. Born February 13, 1928 in Bennion, Utah, son of William Ellis and Phebe Effie Palmer Bennion. Married Idella Durey, December 27, 1951 in the Logan LDS Temple; she preceded him in death August 18, 1970. Married Jean Ranum, November 28, 1986. Graduated from Jordan High School, where he played on the Beetdiggers basketball and football teams. He won the Heavyweight Boxing Championship medal of the Rocky Mountain Region. Avid football, basketball player and fan. Active member of the LDS Church having served as ward clerk, Elders Quorum president. Served an LDS Mission in Northern California. Received bachelors and masters degree from BYU. Worked at Ogden Seminary, Weber High School Seminary and was principal of Churchill Seminary. Teaching the gospel was his delight. Served as veil worker in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.Survived by wife, Jean, Murray; children, Marcia Bowen, Salt Lake City; Michelle (Jeff) Spainhower, Bluffdale; Patricia (Kurt) Hibbert, Sugar City , Idaho; Amy Jo (Fabian) Zullo, Bennion; five brothers, Vernon P, Orem; Wayne H., Powell, Wyoming; Morris P., Bennion; Paul P., Draper; Rex, Tooele. Preceded in death by two sons, Bradley and James Kenneth Bennion, two daughters, Jan and Dawn, three brothers, William (Bill), Stanley, and Don.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, 11 a.m. at the Riverside First Ward, 5425 South 600 West. Friends may call Friday, 5-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Saturday at the church, 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, Beaver Dam Cemetery.
