Danny Glover forges new ground in "Buffalo Soldiers," the true story about black cavalrymen recruited in 1866 for duty on the Western frontier.

Glover stars in the TNT television movie as Sgt. Washington Wyatt, a top-ranking soldier torn between loyalty to the military and compassion for the American Indians he pursues.Wyatt's troops have mixed feelings about pursuing an Indian chief because his resistance mirrored their own struggle for equality, the actor said in published reports.

"Their campaign may have been to get the Indian leader Victorio, but it was also a journey in which every soldier had his own motive. I wanted that journey to challenge them to deal with their own physical and emotional mettle, their emotional dangers," he said.
