Queen guitarist Brian May arrived in western Romania to open a photo exhibition honoring the late Freddie Mercury.

`It was no accident that we chose Romania," May said Tuesday as he arrived in Timisoara, about 280 miles west of Bucharest.About 3,000 children in Romania are infected with HIV, accounting for half of Europe's juvenile AIDS cases.

Donations from the photo exhibition will be donated to AIDS charities, May said.

Mercury was Queen's lead singer and primary songwriter. He died of AIDS complications in 1991.
