Brock Brunkhorst, a former point guard for the University of Arizona, has been named an assistant basketball coach at the University of Utah. The announcement was made today by Ute head coach Rick Majerus.
Brunkhorst played for the Wildcats from 1981-85, where he was a three-year starter in the backcourt. He averaged seven points and four assists per game in his collegiate career. During the summer of 1983 he played for a Pac-10 All-Star team that toured Russia.Majerus is excited to have Brunkhorst join his staff.
"One of the things that appeals to me about Brock Brunkhorst is two things that he doesn't have," said Majerus. "He doesn't have golf clubs and he doesn't have a car with a boat trailer hitch. I think Brock will be a tireless worker."
After graduating from Arizona in 1985, Brunkhorst worked in the family construction business in Phoenix and also served as the freshman coach and varsity assistant coach at Camelback High School.
A native of Milwaukee, Wis., Brunkhorst attended Marquette High School before his family moved to Phoenix. As a senior at East Phoenix High School in 1981, Brunkhorst led his team to a perfect 28-0 record and the Arizona State High School Championship.
