Marjorie Barton, age 67, peacefully left this life surrounded by all her loving children August 23, 1997. She "walked" into the presence of her Father in Heaven after a valiant and courageous battle with multiple sclerosis.
Born January 20, 1930, in Salt Lake City to Dr. James Albert and Marjorie Gallacher Peterson. Married Dr. Richard G. Barton in the Salt Lake LDS Temple; later divorced.She loved life - to dance, ski, play the piano, and sketch. She was a fashion model and had her picture in the paper regularly. She loved to entertain. She had many wonderful friends who saw her through many difficult times. She loved current events and politics. A graduate of East High Class of '47. Attended the U of U, a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma.
An eternal optimist, she was a wonderful example of Christlike qualities. Through her example she inspired everyone who knew her. She traded quitting for courage.
Active member of the LDS Church and constantly drew strength from the scriptures. Her lifelong devotion was to her family and she was a proud mother of nine children and 32 grandchildren. Children: Diana Webb (Randy), Rick (Kathy), Dave (Janice), Dr. Jeff (Debbie), Laurie Fox (Randy) , Holly Hurst (Bruce), Christopher (Earlene), Becky Adams (Bob).
Survived by her children and brother, Fred G. Peterson of Applegate, CA. Preceded in death by her parents; brother, Verne A. Peterson; son, James Peter; and granddaughter, Taysha Brynn Fox.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 27, 1997, at 12 noon, at Mt. Olympus 7th Ward Chapel, 4407 Fortuna Way. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the above location and an hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
