Morgan also cruises to Sr. PGA victoryAnnika Sorenstam and Karrie Webb, the two dominant players on the LPGA Tour the past two years, decided to skip the first two tournaments of the year.
With Kelly Robbins still around, that doesn't make it any easier for the rest of the tour.Poised to prove her game is equal to the best, Robbins won the HealthSouth Inugaural on Sunday by making 15 birdies on the weekend at the difficult Grand Cypress Resort course and running away from the field with precision iron play and a hot putter.
Robbins won $90,000 by closing with a 6-under-par 66, finishing at 209 for a two-stroke victory over Meg Mallon. Patty Sheehan, playing her first tournament in four months after elbow problems, was third at 212.
"She's got all the game," said Juli Inkster, the second-round leader who closed with a 74 to tie for fourth. "She's a solid striker of the ball. She could shoot a 66 and make it look real easy."
Robbins, 28, has won at least once each of the past six seasons. She had 18 finishes in the top 10 last year, and finished in the top 20 in all four majors.
MasterCard Championship
KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii - The final round of the MasterCard Championship turned out to be a Sunday stroll in the park for Gil Morgan.
The six-time winner on the Senior PGA Tour last year pranced to a six-stroke victory over Hale Irwin and Gibby Gilbert in the $1 million tournament, shooting a course-record-tying 64 in the final round for a 54-hole total of 21-under 195.
It wasn't even close with Morgan slamming the door shut early.
At the start of the day, Morgan held a two-stroke lead over Gilbert, and after five holes was ahead of his pursuers - made up of last year's Senior Tour winners - by five strokes.
After that, it was a matter of closing out his trip over the 7,053-yard Hualalai Golf Club on the island of Hawaii.
Morgan's score was the second-lowest ever in the tournament in relation to par. And dating back to last year, he has won three consecutive official events.
Except for a birdie by Vicente Fernandez at the 167-yard 12th, which made it a four-stroke lead, no one got close to Morgan.
Fernandez shot himself out of the tournament on the next hole when he hit into a lava field and recorded a double-bogey.
At the turn, the focus was on the battle for second place.
Irwin, who stole the thunder from Morgan in 1997 by winning nine over-50 tournaments, also carded a 64 to share second place with Gilbert, who overcame a slow start to finish with a 68. Both ended at 201.
