Travis Brown's 63-yard touchdown pass to Francis St. Paul with 13:50 remaining capped a comeback as Northern Arizona beat Weber State 20-17 Saturday night.

The Lumberjacks (5-5, 2-5) erased a 14-0 deficit in the first half to end a three-game losing streak.Weber State (5-5, 3-4) lost its fifth in a row despite Morgan Welch's 121 yards rushing and two touchdowns.

Welch, who now owns his school's single-season rushing record with 1,492 yards, scored on runs of 10 and 2 yards to give the Wildcats a 14-0 lead early in the first half.

Brown, who was 19-of-44 for 249 yards despite two interceptions, hit St. Paul with a 10-yard TD pass 7:38 before halftime.

It came two plays after linebacker Afa Faraimo recovered Welch's fumble at the Weber State 10.

Mike Goldstein kicked third-quarter field goals of 46 and 42 yards to bring Northern Arizona within 14-13 before Brown hooked up with St. Paul for the game-winning play.

Scott Shields kicked a 34-yard field goal with 9:58 to play for the Wildcats, but they never threatened again.

Welch, who entered the game ranked seventh nationally in rushing with a 152-yard average, needed only eight yards to eclipse the school mark for most rushing yards in one season.

Weber State ran the ball on 17 of its first 19 plays in the game and finished with 179 yards on the ground with quarterback Chris Wallace completing only 5 of 9 passes but for 132 yards.

Brown had thrown for nearly 800 yards in his past two games against the Wildcats, including a 452-yard effort last year.

St. Paul caught seven passes Saturday night for 123 yards as the Lumberjacks rushed for just 66 yards on 30 attempts.

Northern Arizona, playing its final home game of the year, must win next week at Portland State to avoid its first losing season since 1992.
