MEN'S TENNIS: Cottonwood senior Tyler Poulson signed with Utah and should begin playing at the U. in the fall of 1999.As a sophomore, he placed second in state singles as Cottonwood finished fourth at the 5A leel. Last year as a junior, Poulson repeated his second-place performance as Cottonwood won the state 5A title, and he finished the year ranked 2nd in the Intermountain West Region.

FOOTBALL HONORS: Six Aggies have been named by the Football News to the first-team all-Big West team.

Selected by the publication's editorial staff, the team included offensive guard Ken Watts, placekicker Brad Bohn, defensive linemen Lindsay Hassell and Walter Fiefia, linebacker Tony D'Amato and safety Donald Dicko.

Weber State

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Weber State opens its 1998-99 home schedule Saturday by hosting Colorado State University. Tip-off is 7:05 p.m. in the Dee Events Center.

The Wildcats are currently 1-4 on the season after taking second place last weekend at the Georgia Tech/Atlanta Marriott Northwest Classic in Atlanta. The 'Cats defeated the U.S. Naval Academy in the first round 77-47, but lost to Georgia Tech 81-46 in the championship game.

WSFL FOOTBALL: Top-ranked Ricks College had 11 players receive first- or second-team all-league honors in voting by the Western States Football League head coaches, while Snow landed seven players and Dixie six on the lists.

Snow's first-team honorees included quarterback Josh Heupel, receiver Derrick Williams, offensive lineman Matt Nighswonger, defensive linemane Mario Fatafehi, linebacker Spencer Woolsten and defensive back Nate Walker. Badgers with second-team recognition were punter Allan Cox and return specialist Darren Dubois;

Earning first-team honors for Dixie were receiver Chris Brinagh, offensive lineman Robert Littlefield, defensive lineman Charles Rhoden, linebacker Solo Moananu and defensive back Chad Barney. Rebel running back Tony Nielson was a second-team selection.

Ricks' first-team contingent included running back Steve Later, offensive lineman Teag Whiting, kicker Mike Clark and defensive back Jared Lee. Vikings on the second-team included receiver Cory Woolstenhume, offensive linemen Bart Teuscher and James Walker, defensive lineman Kurt Wallin, linebackers Kieth Conners and Junior Ioane and defensive back Grant Prior.
