Questar Pipeline Co., a subsidiary of Salt Lake-based Questar Corp., has finished its purchase of ARCO Pipe Line Company's Line 90 for $38 million.

Questar has renamed the line, which runs 700 miles between northwestern New Mexico's Paradox Basin and Long Beach, Calif., as the Southern Trail Pipeline.ARCO and Questar announced the sale of Line 90 and associated lines in June.

The pipeline was built in 1957 to transport oil, and Questar will immediately seek Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approval to convert the line to transport natural gas. The line eventually could have a capacity of more than 120 million cubic feet per day.
