Jewel Lee Kenley, president of Ed Kenley Ford, Layton, was one of 10 dealers in the United States
to receive the 1998 Time Magazine Quality Dealer Award during the National Automobile Dealers Association annual convention in New Orleans.Seventy-four dealers were nominated from 20,500 dealers nationwide for the award co-sponsored by the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. The award recognizes new car dealers for exceptional performance in their dealerships and distinguished community service.
Kenley's father was in the car business as a dealer and persuaded her husband to go into car sales. In 1981, she and her husband, Ed Ken-ley, purchased the current Ed Kenley dealership.
After her husband died, Jewel wanted to continue running the dealership for her son, C. Brett Kenley, and her 80 employees. The mother of two children, Jewel attended Brigham Young University and Weber State University and lives in West Point.
Her community activities include service on the board of trustees of the Davis Hospital and Medical Center and Weber Basin Water Conservancy District.
