Luella Broby Seeholzer, 93, passed away Sunday, June 28, 1998 in the Logan Regional Hospital, after a brief illness.

Luella was born on May 13, 1905 in Greens Corner (Wellsville) to Neils R. Broby and Inger Petersen Broby and spent her younger years in Wellsville. Luella married Harold F. Seeholzer in Logan, Utah. They are the parents of four children: Loyal and Elaine Seeholzer, Logan; Ted and Marge Seeholzer, Smithfield; Dixie and Reed Schiffman, North Logan; Nancy and Terry Lauritzen, Paradise. She has 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, and one grandson, Bryan. She had been living at Williamsburg Retirement Center since November 1996. She loved all her new and old friends there.Luella has always been an active member of the LDS Church and served willingly and lovingly in many callings, probably her favorite was as Primary President serving for 18 years.

Luella and Harold founded and owned Beaver Mountain Ski Area for 50 years. They started out wanting a fun, recreational place for their children in the winter. Little did they know that their desire for winter fun for their children would become such a landmark and a tradition in Cache Valley, offering skiing not only for Cache Valley residents but reaching out into parts of Idaho and Wyoming. Harold was a lather by trade, and Luella worked at Roskelley's Ladies Clothing Store to finance their dream.

Luella has been honored many times through the years for her unselfish contribution to Cache Valley's economy, but perhaps two of the most important honors were the Ski Pioneer Award given by the Intermountain Ski Area Operators Association and a special award by the Ski Hall of Fame. Luella has touched the hearts and hands of countless children and adults alike through the years with her endless capacity to love and share of herself and anything else she had.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 12 noon in the Logan 19th Ward Chapel, 600 East 1255 North. Friends may call at the Allen-Hall Mortuary Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm and at the church on Wednesday from 10:30-11:45 am. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery.
