The heart and soul of our family left us August 2, 1998 after a brief struggle with cancer.

Dan was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on January 13, 1929 to Rosario G. and David Maldonado. He married Frances Masock September 11, 1948.He owned and operated Danny's Shoe Repair, was a member of the Glendale Park Lions. Chairman of the Catholic Community Credit Union and a volunteer at the soup kitchen. Dan was a life-long member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Dan enjoyed many simple pleasures such as fishing, family activities, music from country western to opera, long walks, teasing the "Grands", nature in all it's splendor, raking leaves and shoveling snow. He liked old mining towns, old churches of any denomination, commercials with little kids, but he also loved some of the more worldly things like fine dining, and traveling to the distant cities of Rome and Jerusalem.

Dan was the original "Most Happy Fella". He always had a smile on his face and spread his happiness around to everyone he could. Dan was also the "host with the most" making sure everyone was comfortable and had plenty of refreshments. Dan left a legacy of love, caring and good humor that will be some solace to our aching hearts in the bitter days to come.

This funny, kind, gentle man leaves behind him to grieve, his wife, Frances; daughters, Valerie (Jerry) Marty; Chris Palyka; sons, Dan (Donna); and Mark (Brenda); a host of cherished "Grands", both natural and by marriage; three "Greats"; a brother, Ruben; sisters, Helen Boyer; and Angie (Joe) Recendez. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; his oldest grandson, David Johnson; son-in-law, Mike Palyka; and brother-in-law, Jerry Boyer.

The family would like to thank Vista Hospice Care for their dedicated service during Dan's last trials. The measure of care Dan received is a comfort to our family.

Dan loved flowers of all kinds but the family would like any interested persons to plant a tree or give a bouquet to someone they love.
