BRIGHAM CITY- Gary J Swenson, 45, passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2000 at his home in Brigham City.

He was born on March 25, 1954 in Payson, Utah, to Don and Lois Swenson. He grew up in Spanish Fork, Utah working on his father's farm.Gary married his sweetheart Hanalee Parkin on September 16, 1977 in Nephi, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on November 25, 1978.

Gary was a faithful member of the LDS church. He served in the California Central Mission, an Elders Quorum Presidency, Ward Clerk, teacher in many auxiliaries, and was currently Cub Master. Gary had special gifts of patience and kindness with his own young son and his friends. He had a strong testimony of the gospel and strove to be a positive influence on his children and others.

Gary was a senior principal engineer with Thiokol. He was a recognized expert in his field, the author of numerous technical papers and was involved in the development of several patents.

Gary was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. He dearly loved his family and was dearly loved by them. He was known for his sensitivity, service to others and sense of humor.

He loved to golf, camp, hike, and fish with his family. He enjoyed yard work, gardening, woodworking and making items for his home. Gary loved people and respected all of God's creatures. What he enjoyed most was being with his family. He was blessed with two very special, wonderful children who adored him.

Surviving are his wife, Hanalee; daughter, Kjersti; son, Geoffrey, Brigham City; his parents, Don and Lois Swenson, Spanish Fork; Brothers, Hal (Diane), Farmington; Rick (Michele), Kaysville; Brad (Maureen), LaCanada, CA; Ryan, Spanish Fork; sister, Kay (Bryan) Money, West Jordan.

Funeral services will be Thursday, January 13, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. at the Brigham City 17th Ward Chapel, 139 East 300 North.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Myers Mortuary, 205 South 100 East, Brigham City and on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the Swenson Children Trust Fund, Members 1st Credit Union, Brigham City.
