SYRACUSE 42, BYU 14

RECORD: 2-4

OFFENSE: Quarterback Charlie Peterson did well moving the Cougar offense after Bret Engemann went out with a shoulder injury. Peterson led BYU to its two scores, both coming on touchdown passes to Jonathan Pittman. But by the time the Cougars finally got on the board, the game was all but over. GRADE: D

BYU allowed touchdowns of 61, 79 and 65 yards apiece to an Orangeman team that had been struggling to score as BYU fell behind 42-7 at halftime. The defense didn't allow a score in the second half, though by then Syracuse had already called off the dogs. GRADE: D

SPECIAL TEAMS: A fake field goal attempt for a pass completion that turned into a Orangeman first down deep into BYU territory on Syracuse's first series proved to be the play of the game. GRADE: C-
