Luther Vandross has something to sing about — he's on a new record label.

The soul superstar announced Wednesday that he has signed a multi-album deal with J Records, the new recording label of former Arista Records President Clive Davis.

Vandross, 49, whose hits include "Here and Now" and "A House Is Not a Home," is among the first artists signed to the upstart label.

"I am an enormous fan of Clive Davis'. He loves music, he loves success and I am more than proud to align myself with him," said Vandross, whose last album, "I Know," was released in 1998 on Virgin Records.

Davis called Vandross "the best male R&B singer in the world."
