Roy Peterson stands in the shadow of a fallen grain elevator Sunday in the hamlet of Cluny, Alberta, Canada. Peterson is salvaging wood from the precariously balanced grain elevator, which was knocked down recently along with eight other grain elevators in neighboring towns and villages. The wooden structures have been replaced by concrete grain terminals, ten times as big and much faster than the wooden elevators. Fewer than 100 wooden grain elevators still stand in Alberta.
