CHICAGO (AP) — The Illinois Gaming Board levied a $7.2 million fine — the largest in its history — against the state's top-grossing casino Tuesday, alleging it did business with companies with mob ties.
Gaming Board counsel Jeannette Tamayo spelled out claims that connect three top officials at the Grand Victoria riverboat casino in Elgin to four companies run by Joseph "Joey" Bastone and Jamie Bastone, sons of Carmine Bastone. All three Bastones have been identified as known members or associates of organized crime, Tamayo said.
Grand Victoria is the state's highest-grossing casino, averaging between $1.2 million and $1.5 million in revenues each day.
