Kenneth Cornelius Savage, 74, was born June 19, 1927, in Richfield, Utah, to C.A. (Neal) and Emma Malinda Luke Savage. He died October 1, 2001, in American Fork, Utah, of natural causes.

Kenneth (Ken, K.C.) married the girl-next-door, LaRae Tracy Savage, on Aug. 10, 1948. They were sealed in the Jordan River LDS Temple. He joined the Navy at 17, serving on the Battleship Pennsylvania. He got off the ship at Saipan where he spent 19 months. On returning from World War II, he and his father formed the trucking company C.A. Savage and Son, which grew into Savage Brothers (with Neal and Luke) and is now The Savage Companies doing business nationwide. Upon his semi-retirement he became a farmer with land in Pleasant Grove and American Fork.

At different times in his life Kenneth has loved motorcycles, snowmobiles, boating at Lake Powell, Tennessee walking horses, mules, traveling, having pink mints in his pockets at Sacrament meetings, farming, his many good friends, driving trucks, and putting in a half day's work (12 hours.) He has served his Church as a home teacher, a ward clerk, in the Sunday School Presidency, and as a missionary with his wife as assistant directors at the Cove Fort Monument Mission.

Kenneth is survived by "that curly-haired woman" his wife, LaRae; his four children and their spouses, David and Carolyn S. Wright, Kirk and Shannon S. Magleby, John and Lisa P. Savage, Don and Colleen S. Smith; his grandchildren: Joel and Marisa Wright, Joseph and Rebekah Johnson, Brendan and Shera Wright, Paul, Emily, Jonathan, and Anne Wright, Rock, Richard, Karin, and Ellen Magleby, Justin, and Shelby Savage; his great-grandchildren: Warren Wright, Nathaniel Johnson, and Ethan Pahler; his sister, Valentine S. Clark; his two brothers and their wives: Neal and Sherrie Savage, T. Luke and Susan Savage, and lots of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his two brothers, John and Grant, and his grandson, Chancelor Savage.

Funeral services will be Friday, Oct. 5, 2001, at 1 p.m. in the LDS Chapel at 950 East 850 North, American Fork, where friends may call from 11:30 until 12:30 before the service. A viewing will also be held from 6 - 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, American Fork. Burial, American Fork Cemetery.

Ken's motto was "I can't is a slugger too lazy to try; he'll shirk each duty and fail each task".
